IT Technician at Victory Farms

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented IT Support Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing the organization’s IT infrastructure, ensuring the smooth operation of hardware, software, and network systems, while providing exceptional technical support to all users. Roles & Responsibilities:

Hardware and Software Maintenance

• Install and configure hardware and software components to ensure usability.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues to minimize downtime.
• Perform system upgrades to support compatibility with newer software applications.
• Conduct tests and evaluations of new software and hardware for efficiency and usability.
• Manage the setup and distribution of new devices, including phones, tablets, laptops, desktops, and printers.

Security and Compliance

• Install and update anti-virus software to ensure user-level security.
• Ensure electrical safety standards are met on all IT hardware devices.
• Set up and maintain email configurations on laptops and phones for new or promoted employees.

Networking and Connectivity

• Perform network cabling and termination for endpoint devices, such as CCTV, access points, printers, laptops, and biometrics systems.
• Conduct daily operational checks on internet speeds and application response times.
• Support Safaricom work line setup for new users, including CUG and CVP configurations.

Technical Support

• Act as the first point of contact for error reporting, offering effective troubleshooting and timely resolution.
• Provide ongoing technical support to users across all departments.
• Establish strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders to foster a positive support environment.
• Maintain ownership of helpdesk tickets, ensuring timely resolution or assignment to relevant agents.

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain technical documentation for both hardware and software systems.
• Provide weekly reports on tasks undertaken, including ticket statuses and resolutions.
• Record and report any assigned ad-hoc tasks to senior management

Skills and qualifications:

• Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 1 year of proven experience in IT support or a similar role.
• Hands-on experience with hardware installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Proficient in software setup and configuration, including email systems.
• Familiarity with networking concepts and devices, such as routers, switches, and access points.
• Security Awareness: Knowledge of anti-virus tools and security best practices.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve technical issues effectively.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities to collaborate with teams across departments.
• Experience maintaining technical documentation for IT systems.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
