Lead, Exploration and scouting, Digitalisation at Wartsila Eastern Africa Ltd

Wärtsilä Energy is looking for a Lead, Exploration and scouting, Digitalisation & Data. In this role you will be part of the Next Business Lab team.
In this position you will report to Eleonor Hedström, Acting Director, Next Business Lab. Wärtsilä Next Business Lab supports growth companies to develop and validate their solutions and offer access to new markets and customers. At the same time, we gain a lot ourselves - working with partners means faster renewal and keeping up to date with the latest technologies. We run pilot projects together with partners, with the aim to scale the successful pilots to full commercial collaboration contracts.

We are now looking for a person with curious mindset, passion and drive to Lead the exploration and scouting activities in the Next business lab for Digitalisation and Data.  With this theme will look for new ways to analyse data, connect customers with business models for energy services and optimisation of energy systems.

Location: The role is global, so your working location can be any of our main energy locations. 

1. Lead Exploration and scouting.

3. Turn venture opportunities to business cases 
4. Scout new ventures
5. Build venture relationships 

Main Responsibilities: 

1. Lead the Next Business Lab Exploration and scouting activities
2. Manage the opportunity scouting, business case development and venture pipeline building
3. Analyse if the opportunities we seek to solve should lead to venture building, venture partnership or acquisition
4. Ensure that Next Business Innovation activities to implement the Energy vision and strategy
5. Ensure everything we do is customer focused and our ventures have market attractiveness & strategic fit 
6. Lead the scouting process with external partners and internal stakeholders 
7. Continuously develop our scouting process based on the feedback

What are we looking for?

1. We are looking for a person who is passionate about developing our future and want to find way how to re-think the way we shape the markets. You have a clear understanding of our business dynamics and customer business drivers and translate those to ideas how to further digitalise our business.  You have a relevant degree (e.g., Economics, Technology) and preferably successful track record in scouting venturing activities. 
2. You share our passion to transform the energy markets and you can build well-functioning and engaged networks around you. You have an ability to look things from out-side-in view and inspire also other people to think outside of their comfort zone. 
3. We value attitude and spirit - creativity, proactivity and collaborative spirit are key features to succeed in this role. Knowledge and experience of business venturing and scouting methodology is considered an asset.
