    Learning Designer, Workplace Learning

    Job Description

    The Instructional/Learning Designer for our programmes in Management & Leadership will join the Learning Team and work closely with the Enterprise Business to build programmes that work for our growing group of  African and global clients. In this role, you will be particularly focused on our Enterprise Academy programme  pioneering our proprietary approach to ‘Winning Behaviors.’ You will be a key player in a dynamic, international team focused obsessively on results.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people with experience in Management & Leadership blended, virtual, and face-to-face learning and training design.
    The Learning Designer, Academy will focus on learning design, learning experience design, and content development for our Enterprise Academy product. You will provide consultation within the broader learning team,  taking design initiative on all aspects of program, workshop and content development. The successful candidate will work closely with the Product Manager – Workplace Learning and be an important  part of the AMI Learning Team. 

    In this role, you will be in charge of learning design and content development efforts in key strategic projects,  including work across our flagship workplace learning programmes and building the library of short programmes or  experiences based on our Winning Behaviours approach to support leadership excellence for businesses across  Africa. You'll collaborate with clients, AMI Internal Stakeholders, multimedia developers, technology platform team, and  subject matter experts to create learning experiences that demonstrate sound learning strategies, produce  desired learning outcomes, and develop targeted competencies and practices. As a Learning/Instructional  Designer, you'll need to be able to thrive and succeed in a very collaborative, fast-paced environment with  competing priorities. 

    The successful candidate will: 

     

    • Provide strategic learning input to the Product team – to help develop innovative learning products,  adapting the methodology, supporting product to scale and adapt to the market and technical innovation.
    • S/he will design scalable learning programmes for Management and Leadership Learning that are  impactful, scalable, and world-class.  
    • Support in the management of Learning Experience Design – including innovating on the cross-functional  learning project teams that oversee and iterate blended and virtual learning programme design
    • Support the team and/or deliver workshop design to support AMI’s blended learning programmes. These  learning events are a lynchpin in AMI’s learning methodology and provide the experiences necessary to  encourage ongoing engagement outside of the workshop. 

    Responsibilities 

    • S/he will design scalable learning programmes for companies that are impactful, scalable, and  world-class. The design of new scalable blended and virtual learning programmes is the primary  responsibility of the Learning Designer – in collaboration with the Head of Learning, and workplace  learning product teams. 
    • Support in the management of Learning Experience– including innovating on the cross-functional  learning project teams that oversee and iterate blended and virtual learning programme design
    • Support the team and/or deliver workshop design to support AMI’s blended learning programmes.  These learning events are a lynchpin in AMI’s learning methodology and provide the experiences  necessary to encourage ongoing engagement outside of the workshop. 
    • Support the Content Development Processes – at times building or updating courses, tools, toolkits  and innovative learning content that meets the needs of our diverse clientele and remains efficient  and agile. AMI builds online learning content suited to our key markets, including video-based  courses, mobile and desktop friendly libraries of curated tools and toolkits, and a range of content  suited to a range of technologies. 

    Requirements

    Skills & attributes 

    • Deep knowledge of adult learning theory and how to apply these theories in the design of learning  experiences 
    • Recent experience designing instruction for leaders including the design of multimedia training,  paper-based training materials, experiential workshops, and related documentation 
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills . Ability to edit and perform quality assurance  (QA) on your own work 
    • Understanding of agile methodology and ability to handle multiple priorities in a very fluid working  environment 
    • High proficiency and productivity in G Suite tools, including Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, etc.
    • Exhibit solid interpersonal and communication skills that enable successful internal and external interaction in a variety of modes including face-to-face meetings, phone calls, phone conferences, virtual  meetings, and written communication.  
    • Ability to work on your own and with diverse teams 
    • Work well with people. Culturally adept. Ability to communicate effectively across different levels, with local and international teams and stakeholders 
    • Willingness to engage in robust debate alongside deep respect for others 
    • Absolutely rock-solid integrity 

    Qualifications & Experience 

    • 5+ years of related instructional design and development experience (essential) 
    • Design-build, Instructional Design, Instructional Training, E-learning 
    • Experience working in an entrepreneurial or skills development environment(essential)
    • Masters degree or equivalent experience 

    AMI will consider candidates from any country, but preference will be given to African nationals.  Candidates must be willing to live in Africa, Nairobi preferred, and free to travel across Africa
