Manager – Drilling Operations at Geothermal Development Company (GDC)

Job Description

Duties and responsibilities will entail:

• Aligning departmental strategic goals and objectives with the company’s strategic goals and objectives and ensure implementation for achievement of the company’s mandate.
• Setting departmental performance targets and work plans in line with the department’s performance targets and ensuring their achievement.
• Development and monitoring of the department’s annual budget and procurement plan and monitor for effective and efficient delivery of drilling operations.
• Providing leadership on staffing, development and performance management programs while ensuring staff are motivated for good team performance.
• Spearheading support negotiations and building of relationship with external service providers to the benefit of the company’s image, cost and long-term support on material and service delivery.
• Overseeing the establishment and implementation of a sound risk management system within the department.
• Ensuring the drilling operation is on schedule and the well orientation and azimuth is as targeted.

Person Specifications

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -

• A minimum of twelve (12) years of relevant work experience, four (4) years of which should have in a management role.
• Master’s Degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
• Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following Engineering fields: - Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Electronics, Agricultural, Mining Engineering, Energy/Geothermal/ Drilling Technology, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Management course lasting not more than four (4) weeks.
• Registered Professional by Engineers Board of Kenya/ Kenya Engineering Technology Registration Board or equivalent.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter 6 of the constitution of Kenya.
