    Manager - Metro Deployment

    Detailed Description

    Reporting to the Senior Manager – Fibre Planning & Design, the position holder takes the lead for deployment and management of all the fiber network to support both Internal and External Customers requirements

    Key Responsibilities

    • Coordinate field surveys to determine and define project baseline and schedule
    • Develop and enforce rollout processes to be followed by the contractors to ensure efficiency in delivery
    • Control quality and quantity of work performed to ensure high availability and resiliency
    • Obtain all approvals with identified stakeholders prior to proceeding with project execution
    • Engage with SFC regulatory team to form frameworks for engagement with external ROW stakeholders
    • OHS Leadership by enforcing OHS standards during deployment of fibre networks in conjunction with other stakeholders
    • Manage 3rd party stakeholder engagements - primary contact for KPLC contract in use
    • Coordinate and manage contractor training and development.
    • Lead in automation of deployment processes and standards
    • Lead role in technical services RFP to onboard best fibre contractors
    • Maintain and periodically update the projects and raise potential risk of deviations from project plan
    • Vendor management through supplier performance and periodic evaluation.
    • Control the Change management and recommend appropriate action
    • Work with relevant departments and sections to ensure well-ordered, end-to-end execution of all project tasks
    • Chair regular project progress review and coordination meetings with key project team members, with Contractors, and other project stakeholders
    • Enforce standards in the materials used in networks deployment to ensure optimum QOS and network lifespan
    • Represent Safaricom towards municipality/county authorities and other external parties when required
    • Lead in investigation of project disputes and resolve or recommend appropriate action

    Qualifications

    • First Degree in Engineering with a strong fibre telecoms content.
    • Minimum 5-year experience in deployment of fibre network  
    • Excellent project management skills in handling large projects in telecommunication; Certifications in Project Management will be an added advantage
    • Knowledge in GIS mapping tools; Connect Master proficiency will be an added advantage
    • Familiar with ROW acquisition process
