Duties and Responsibilities

• Decontaminating working benches;
• Receiving and scrutinizing laboratory requisition forms and specimens;
• Preparing clients for collection of specimens;
• Submitting samples to reference laboratories and institutes for further analysis;
• Receiving, collecting, labeling and registering specimens;
• Disaggregating specimens for processing and analysis;
• Preparing reagents, examining specimens, writing and recording results;
• Dispatching the results for clinical management;
• Preparing stains;
• Performing blood grouping and Issuing blood and blood products to peripheral health facilities and storing blood products.

Requirements for appointment

• Be a Kenyan Citizen;
• Be a Holder of a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical laboratory Technicians and Technologist Board; Registration certificate issued by the Kenya medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologist Board (KMLTTB);
• Valid practicing license from Kenya medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologist Board;
• Minimum Three (3) years working experience in the relevant field;
• Demonstrate administrative ability and competence in work performance;
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills;
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of County development objectives;
• Proficiency in computer applications;
• Have capacity to work under pressure to meet timelines;
• Have ability to work in a multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity;
• Demonstrate understanding and commitment to the values and principles as outlined in Article 10 and 232 of the Constitution of Kenya;
