Job description:

• The Medical Officer provides direct patient-centered clinical care, diagnostic evaluation, and treatment management across outpatient and primary care functions at the facility. This role is responsible for ensuring superior clinical outcomes, enforcing strict quality control and patient safety protocols, maintaining thorough electronic medical records, and collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to advance overall health service delivery.

​Key Responsibilities

​Clinical Assessment & Patient Care

• ​Conduct detailed clinical evaluations, history taking, and physical examinations for outpatients and walk-in clients.
• ​Formulate accurate clinical diagnoses, order appropriate baseline diagnostic tests, and interpret laboratory and radiological investigation results.
• ​Develop, implement, and monitor evidence-based management plans, prescribing pharmaceuticals in compliance with national treatment guidelines.
• ​Perform minor outpatient surgical procedures and offer emergency resuscitation and stabilization prior to referral when necessary.

​Quality Assurance, SOPs & Patient Safety

• ​Implement and uphold Standard Operating Procedures for infection prevention, clinical risk management, and patient care delivery.
• ​Conduct continuous clinical audits, mortality or morbidity reviews, and quality control checks to drive clinical performance improvements.
• ​Monitor medical supplies, emergency drug trays, and diagnostic equipment in coordination with operational leads to ensure emergency preparedness.

​Medical Records, Documentation & Statutory Compliance

• ​Maintain timely, comprehensive, and legible digital and physical medical notes for all client encounters, ensuring patient confidentiality and data privacy.
• ​Complete statutory health notifications, medical reports, and insurance authorization forms in accordance with regulatory mandates.
• ​Ensure full personal and operational compliance with the guidelines set by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) and relevant health authorities.

​Patient Education & Health Promotion

• ​Counsel patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment compliance, lifestyle modifications, and preventive healthcare strategies.
• ​Participate in community health outreach programs, wellness clinics, and corporate health screening initiatives organized by Nedic Pro.
• ​Facilitate continuous medical education (CME) sessions and peer case reviews to support internal clinical capacity building.

​Key Qualifications & Competencies

• ​Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
• ​Active registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) with a valid annual practicing license.
• ​Minimum of 1 to 3 years of clinical post-internship experience in a busy hospital or outpatient clinical environment.
• ​Valid Professional Indemnity Insurance cover.
• ​Demonstrated experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software and standard healthcare technology platforms.
• ​Sound clinical acumen, empathetic communication skills, and robust crisis management capabilities.
