Medical Specialist II – Physician at Tharaka Nithi County Assembly

Requirements for appointment

•  Be a Kenyan citizen;
•  Be a holder of a Degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of
• Surgery (MB;Ch.B.) from a University recognized in Kenya;
•  Must have completed a Master’s Degree in Internal Medicine from a university recognized in Kenya;
•  Registered as a Medical Specialist Practitioner by Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council;
•  Have a Valid Practicing License;
•  Be of acceptable moral and professional standing.

Duties and responsibilities
The Physician will be responsible to the employer and the supervisor for the following;

•  Formulation, implementation and review of all health policies, regulations, standards, guidelines and protocols;
•  Reviewing patients and instructing in writing all the recommendations;
•  Undertaking ‘Second-on-Call’ duties including clerking, investigating and managing patients;
•  Conducting weekly clinics;
•  Conducting research and clinical audits;
•  Training, supervising and mentoring Medical Officers, Medical Interns and other students;
•  Undertaking medico-legal duties;
•  Undertaking medical examinations and preparing Medical Board proceedings;
•  Ensuring data and information is collected, transmitted and utilized to benefit the client and service provider;
•  Conducting disease surveillance, prevention and control; and
•  Carrying out health education and promotion
•  Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor.
