    Medical Specialist

    EIGHTEEN (18) POSTS –(Pediatrics and Child Health – 6 posts, Physician – 6 posts, Anaesthesiologist – 6 posts)

    V/No. 88/2021
    Basic Salary Scale: Ksh.99,900 - Ksh.169,140 p.m (CSG 6)
    House Allowance: Ksh.20, 000 – 50,000 p.m (Depending on duty station)
    Commuter Allowance: Ksh.16, 000p.m
    Leave Allowance: As provided by the government
    Annual Leave: 30 working days per financial year
    Medical Cover: As provided by the government
    Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

    1. a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B. Ch.B.) degree from a university recognized in Kenya
    2. a Masters degree in any of the following fields: Medicine, Family Medicine, Anesthesiology, Paediatrics and Child Health or equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya;
    3. a Certificate of Registration from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
    4. a valid practicing license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
    5. demonstrated professional competence and managerial capability as reflected inwork performance.

    Duties and Responsibilities: -

    1. performing complex and advanced clinical patient management in areas of specialization;
    2. coordinating, training, coaching, and mentoring of health personnel.
    3. managing health stores including essential medicines and/or plant andequipment;
    4. managing larger facilities/hospitals.
    5. developing intervention activities or programmes for the management of diseases and conditions.
    6. developing medical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and protocals;
    7. coordinating emergency response and clinical care;
    8. coordinating health projects and programmes;
    9. managing health information systems;
    10. carrying out health surveys and research; and
    11. monitoring the provision of forensic and medico-legal services.
