Job Details
The focus of the Africa Regional Migration Program will center on data capacity building, moving away from the provision of direct assistance towards efforts to capacitate Government agencies to identify and respond to the individual needs of migrants in vulnerable situations using data, whilst maintaining a focus on strengthening Governmental structures, processes and approaches to enable countries to ensure sustainable and humane migration management. It is in this context that data capacity building under the program will be undertaken with a view to transitioning support for activities to targeted Governments.
In this context, the scope of this consultancy aims to support strengthening the capacity building portfolio in migration data of relevant national governmental bodies. Under the direct supervision of the Regional Data Hub Coordinator (RDH), in close coordination with the Regional Mixed Migration Programme Manager and the Global Migration Data Analysis Centre (GMDAC), the consultant will be responsible for the following tasks.
Targeted national authorities, focusing on the NBSs in Ethiopia, Somalia, Djibouti, and Tanzania, will benefit of tailored capacity building support to enhance migration data management, analysis, and reporting. This will include the implementation of a harmonized assessment of national capacity in producing migration statistics across countries, organization of different migration data trainings, and targeted intervention based on gaps of existing migration data and data needs as per assessment findings.
Interested candidates should submit CV and a cover letter indicating the Position Title and Vacancy Number with three professional referees, and their contacts (both email and telephone) to International Organization for Migration (IOM), RO Human Resources Department, via e-mail: ronairobihrdrec@iom.int
CLOSING DATE: 11th January 2020
