Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Officer at Save the Children

The MEAL Officer will have a key role in establishing and promoting programme quality and innovation, which will be achieved through developing and improving monitoring, evaluation, impact assessment and learning methodologies

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

  Contract Duration: 10 months Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in social sciences, public health, development, or information technology
• Certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation will be an added advantage

Essential

• Over 3 years of MEAL related experience working in INGO’s and or UN Agencies in developmental or in humanitarian programmes
• Experience of, and commitment to working through systems of community participation and accountability
• Demonstrated strong monitoring and evaluation skills, including planning/participating in evaluations
• Experience of training and capacity building
• Some experience of representation and ability to represent SC effectively in external forums.
• Knowledge of institutional donors and experience of developing proposals
• Ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports
• A high level of written and spoken English
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working in multicultural, multi -location, values driven teams.
• Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children International’s aims, values and principles.

Desirable

• Good communication skills in Kiswahili
• Experience of managing private and international donor funded projects
