    Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning Advisor (International Volunteer)

    Context for assignment:

    As a Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning Advisor for CAP Youth Empowerment Institute (CAPYEI) you will assist in reviewing the existing Monitoring and Evaluation strategy and support the implementation of a plan to improve the organization's ability to measure and learn from its programs and projects as well as communicate its impact in Kenya.

    Responsibilities:

    • Support a review of CAP Youth Empowerment Institute's existing monitoring and evaluation systems 
    • Support the design and creation of new monitoring and evaluation processes, tools and templates 
    • Analyse, interpret and share the findings and results with key decision makers at CAP
    • Assist in providing technical guidance to develop Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) systems and quality management for existing systems and framework
    • Assist in conducting staff training on MEAL concepts.

     

    Requirements:

    • Degree and/or training in program evaluation, data management, international development, project management, or a related field
    • Demonstrated experience in program management, and monitoring and evaluation
    • A commitment to gender equality, youth inclusion, and international volunteering
    • Flexibility, adaptability, resilience, self-awareness, confidence, ability to work well in a team, interpersonal skills, communication skills and cultural sensitivity
    • Written and oral fluency in English
    • Experience with group facilitation and trainings, including content development considered an asset
    • Experience living and working internationally considered an asset
    • Written and oral fluency in English.

    WUSC Partner Description:

    CAP-Youth Empowerment Institute Kenya (YEI) is a non government organization started in 2011 committed to train youth out of school in job entry level skills. This training is operationalized using the Basic Employability Skills Training (BEST) model. CAPYEI is guided by three core objectives:To ensure disadvantaged youth acquire life skills, relevant labor market skills, savings skills, education, and small business development.To facilitate disadvantaged youth access to internships and job opportunities through institutionalized public-private partnership. To ensure youth receive vital pre and post job placement counseling, support, and services including financial as they transition to work.

    Volunteer Support Package:

    • Support and guidance from the WUSC Volunteer Mobilization Team prior to departure and from WUSC Country Team while on assignment
    • Participation in a pre-departure training where you will have the opportunity to learn about the program, gain practical skills for living and working in an intercultural context and meet other volunteers
    • Travel, meals and accommodation during in-person pre-departure training
    • In-country orientation upon arrival in country of assignment
    • Language training in country of assignment, where required
    • Airfare to and from country of assignment and visa/work permit
    • Support from the WUSC Administrative Officer for all relevant visas and work permits
    • Cost of required country specific vaccinations and antimalarials
    • Health insurance
    • Modest monthly living and accommodation allowance while in country of assignment
    • Vacation leave entitlement
    • Return debriefing after completion of assignment
