    National FMNR Evidence Lead

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Strategic and technical support -45%

    • Develop the Monitoring, Evidence and Learning component of World Vision Kenya’s National FMNR Scaling Strategy (2023-2033).
    • Co-lead the development of six-monthly progress reports against annual work plans (together with the National FMNR Scaling Lead).
    • Co-lead the development of an annual FMNR scaling report card against the National FMNR Scaling Strategy (together with the National FMNR Scaling Lead).
    • Co-lead the development and implementation of FMNR research strategy in collaboration with academia and other research partners to build the scientific evidence-base for FMNR
    • Co-lead the aggregation and reporting on FMNR hectarage restoration under across WVK projects

    Engagement, Networking and Advocacy-25%

    • Establish and maintain active engagement with external organizations including National and County level stakeholder (state and non-state) for collaboration, networking, resource sharing and learning activities
    • Evidence of functional partnerships with learning institutions on potential research areas for evidence-based programming sustained with running agreements/MoUs
    • Ensure WVK participation in learning/research forums within the National platforms/forums and International forums for wider experience sharing.
    • Donor compliance for the catalyst project

    Programme Development and Grants Acquisition-10%

    • Support in excellent programme development in liaison with Resource Acquisition and Management Department (RAM)
    • Support partners engagements for resource acquisition
    • Ensure excellent handover and transition of the projects
    • Participate in partner organizations capacity assessment (due diligence) reviews

    Accountability, Learning and Innovation-15%

    • Provide tools, training, and systems to improve project mapping and monitoring of FMNR training, adoption, sites, and tree cover change in line with the Global FMNR Monitoring, Evidence and Learning Guidelines and any relevant National Government Restoration Monitoring initiatives.
    • Provide technical support and guidance to relevant programmes and projects on methods and approaches for monitoring and evaluating FMNR scaling, in line with the Global FMNR Monitoring, Evidence & Learning Guidelines.

    Day to day activities-5%

    • Participate and contribute in committees and task forces.
    • Perform any other task related to the project not mentioned, that affects the sector.
    • Collaborate with WVA and WVI partnership stakeholders

    Qualification, Skills and Knowledge

    • The holder must have a minimum Master’s degree in Project Planning and Management, Agro-forestry, Natural Resource Management, Statistics, Climate Change/Environment science, M&E or related field.
    • The holder of this position must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Natural Resource Management, Climate Change/ Environement science, Economics/statistics, or equivalent degree in a relevant field;
    • At least 10 years professional experience in Project/ Programme design implementation, M&E and quality learning cycles
    • Results orientated person able to manage and satisfy multiple and at times conflicting organizational, donor and other stakeholder demands;
    • Experience in the execution of development cooperation projects and consortiums
    • Knowledge of natural resource management, environmental science or similar
    • Knowledge and/or experience with data management including spatial data and mapping
    • Experience in Design, monitoring, evaluation and Learning.
    • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).
    • Advanced knowledge on Natural Resource Management/Climate Change/Environment, Statistics, Project Management and related fields.
    • Ability to build capacity of staff on relevant technical fields;
    • Ability to take initiative, solve complex problems, exercise independent judgment;
    • Ability to work with minimum supervision;
    • A team player, capable of building staff and partners in climate change and natural resource management
    • Cross-cultural sensitivity, and emotional maturity
    • Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts;
    • Excellent English communication skills (both oral and written).
    • Experience  working  in arid and semi-arid and interfaith contexts as well as hostile environment
