    NPHLS Public Health Officers

    Key Responsibilities

    • Carry out primary screening, referral of suspect cases to a clinician for secondaryscreening which will lead to referral to hospital for further screening or release
    • Participate in writing of COVID-1attestation letters for truckers whoseresultsindicate negativity
    • Supervise disinfection of all trucks whose crew are found to be COVID-19positive
    • Facilitate medical evacuations to quarantine and isolation facilities. 
    • Implement instructions from HOD on domestic and international diseasedynamics. 
    • Undertake disinfection, disinfection and derating (vector and vermin control)
    • Liaise with County rapid response teams to pick confirmed cases and conduct incontact tracing within the labs
    • Carryout community health education including to other actors within NPHRL
    • Participate in prosecution of offenders of the law. 
    • Conduct Sanitary audits of NPHL environment, conveyances and buildings. 
    • Perform any other duties as directed by the supervisor

    Qualifications and experience

    The Public Health Officer must meet the following requirements

    • Have a diploma or Bachelor degree in Environmental Health Sciences or in Public Health
    • Must be registered by the Public Health Officers and Technicians Council (PHOTC)
    • Holder of a valid practising License from the Public Health Officers andTechnicians Council (PHOTC)
    • At least years working experience in Public Health
    • Knowledge of Infection, Prevention and Control in work places
    • Experience working with Ministry of Health systems on COVID1is anaddedadvantage
    • Good report writing and analytical skills
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision
