    Nurse Manager

    Position Summary

    • Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer / Director, the Nurse Manager will be responsible for leading nursing operations across outpatient clinics, infusion/day care services, oncology care, wellness programs, and supportive care services.
    • The role will ensure delivery of high-quality, compassionate, evidence-based, and patient-centred care while strengthening clinical governance, patient safety, staff performance, workflow efficiency, and multidisciplinary collaboration across the facility.

    Key Duties & Responsibilities

    Strategic Leadership & Clinical Governance

    • Provide strategic leadership for nursing services in line with the medical centre’s vision, mission, and objectives. Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing strategic and operational plans.

    Outpatient Nursing Operations

    • Oversee nursing operations across outpatient clinics, infusion/day care services, oncology care, wellness programs, and supportive care services to ensure smooth service delivery and patient flow.

    Multidisciplinary Clinical Coordination

    • Foster collaboration among nursing, medical, pharmacy, laboratory, allied health, and administrative teams to support coordinated patient care and operational efficiency.

    Patient Safety & Quality Improvement

    • Drive patient safety protocols, clinical quality improvement, infection prevention and control, risk management, incident reporting, and root-cause analysis processes.

    Staffing, Scheduling & Workflow Optimization

    • Ensure efficient staffing allocation, shift scheduling, resource utilization, and workflow optimization in a 24-hour outpatient facility with high patient volumes.

    Clinical Documentation & Systems

    • Standardize clinical documentation, communication pathways, patient flow processes, service delivery models, and support use of EMR/EHR systems.

    Financial & Resource Management

    • Support planning and management of nursing budgets, workforce resources, equipment, infrastructure, clinical space, and procurement-related decisions for nursing and patient care services.

    Talent, Training & Workforce Development

    • Recruit, onboard, mentor, supervise, and evaluate nursing leadership and frontline clinical staff. Drive continuous professional development, competency assessments, internal training plans, and staff engagement.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) from a recognized university or institution.
    • Master’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Management, Public Health, Business Administration, or a closely related postgraduate field is preferred.
    • Valid registration and current practicing license with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
    • Minimum 10 years of progressive nursing experience.
    • At least 3–5 years’ experience in a senior nursing leadership role such as Director of Nursing, Head of Nursing, Senior Nursing Officer, or similar role within a complex, multi-shift, or high-volume healthcare environment.

    Key Skills & Competencies

    • Strong nursing leadership and clinical governance skills.
    • Deep understanding of infection prevention and control, risk management, and patient-centred healthcare operations.
    • Strong experience managing nursing workflows, patient throughput, and clinical excellence in an outpatient or ambulatory day-care setting.
    • Strong financial acumen in budgeting, workforce scheduling, and cost-containment strategies.
    • Data-driven decision-making ability with strong analytical and clinical problem-solving skills.
    • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and relationship management skills.
    • Ability to oversee multi-shift, 24-hour nursing rotations, including weekends and public holidays.
    • Familiarity with SHA/NHIF, private medical insurance documentation, and pre-authorization processes.
    • Fluency in written and spoken English and Swahili.
    • High standards of professional integrity, clinical ethics, confidentiality, and accountability.
