    Office Cleaner

    About Us

    The Danish Embassy is part of the Danish Foreign service.  The Embassy covers Kenya and Somalia as well as Eritrea, Seychelles, and Malawi.  The Embassy is an ambitious, high-paced and dynamic workplace with approximately 60 employees, 20 of whom are posted from Denmark.  The Embassy has a flat management structure.

    The Danish Embassy in Nairobi is seeking to recruit cleaners.

    Their main tasks will be:

    • Assist in preparing meeting rooms for meetings.
    • Assist in preparing and serving tea to visitors
    • Assist at events and functions at the Ambassadors residences
    • Clean workspaces, common areas, offices, hallways,
    • Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing of bathrooms throughout the day
    • Sweep, mop, and buff hardwood floors as needed.
    • Vacuum carpeted areas and furniture.
    • Dust and polish various surfaces.
    • Restock bathrooms supplies.
    • Responsible for cleaning of windows in offices, meeting rooms, management offices, etc.
    • Perform dusting, disinfecting, and polishing of surfaces and furniture as needed
    • May be required to stock kitchen and meeting room supplies as needed
    • Responsible for reporting repairs and replacements encountered when executing daily tasks
    • Empty trash bins.
    • Be willing to assist with other maintenance, cleaning or support related functions when required
    • Contribute to team efforts; exhibits professionalism with visitors and fellow colleagues.
    • Keep track of cleaning schedule.

    Required qualifications

    • Applicants for the office cleaner position should have a High School qualification or its equivalent. 
    • Applicants should have at least basic knowledge of cleaning products, including chemicals and supplies, and methods used in office cleaning
    • Experience in serving/waiter will be an added advantage
    • Part of the job of the office cleaner is to ensure safety, so they should have basic safety knowledge
    • It is also useful that they can operate automatic floor scrubbing machines, floor buffers, and wet and dry vacuums
    • Good communication skills to effectively follow written or verbal instructions
    • Applications should be able to pay attention to detail in order to perform their job successfully when cleaning
    • Office cleaners must also be organized individuals with the ability to follow a schedule and adapt to changing schedules or routines
    • The job of an office cleaner is manually inclined, so it is important that they are energetic in order to be able to reach, stretch, bend, and walk during daily routine, and stand for a long duration with ease
    • To work as an office cleaner, interested individuals must have a strong work ethic, be reliable, and pay attention to detail.
