Officer, Data Analytics at Gulf African Bank

Job purpose

• To automate reports, manage & monitor existing and acquired data
• To foster ways to improve the existing BI systems
• To use statistics and other relevant data modelling tools to solve complex business problems across various domains.

Key Responsibilities

• To automate reports utilized by both business and finance teams
• Management of data through daily monitoring of data and liaising with ICT BIS team to ensure that data loaded into BI systems is complete and consistent with expectations
• Work with BI Developers to ensure business reports and dashboards are accurate and in line with changing business needs
• Work with BI Developers to develop complex analytics solutions and improve the architecture by providing clear business requirements and rallying stakeholders to test and approve results
• Gather, analyse and present data in a presentable format that can be used to derive insights for business decision making
• Develop a roadmap for predictive analytics for the Bank
• Continuous review of data to ensure compliance with the data governance
• Perform statistical analysis by developing and deploying models on large data sets
• Conduct exploratory data analysis by the use of simple queries, aggregations, joins and transformations through SQL or other data languages
• Document manuals on models developed, reports generated and statistical solutions devised
• Understand Key Performance Indicators that drive business performance and understand how these measures are aligned and track against overall business strategies, goals and objectives
• Work closely with stakeholders to better understand business requirements and develop solutions to address any shortfalls
• Carry out end-user training as required.

Knowledge and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Statistics / Mathematics, or a Business-related field. Possession of an MBA will be an added advantage
• A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in banking / financial institutions an added advantage
• Statistics experience in programming languages such as Excel, VBA, Python, Java, SPSS, SAS etc.
• Working experience with relational databases, data warehouse and an understanding of SQL, PLSQL
• Proficient with Microsoft BI and any other Visualization tools
