Officer – Trade Finance Back Office at Rafiki Microfinance Bank

The overall purpose of this role is to ensure that all trade finance contracts are issued according to Bank’s credit policies and procedures. This involves ensuring that all trade finance contracts are secured, within the mandates as spelled out in the Bank’s credit policies and procedures.

The job holder will report functionally to Senior Manager-Credit Risk (Trade finance and Digital loans.

JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Play an active role on delivery of Trade Finance Services, in accordance to Credit Policies and procedures.
2. Ensure margins, fees and limits are observed as per the established mandates.
3. Timely Issuance of trade finance contracts (Bid Bonds, performance contract, APG etc) as per the approval.
4. Ensure cash margins, collateral, Service fees are maintained and observed as per approval.
5. Provide timely and accurate confirmation of trade finance contracts, to awarders of the contracts.
6. Liaison with internal and external customers on matter to enhance delivery.
7. Maintain a robust filing system with an up-to-date database of all trade finance contracts.
8. Maintain a filing register to track trade finance contracts, which informs the effective dates and expiries.
9. Ensure compliance to both local and external regulatory requirements.
10. Design/review processing steps/procedures and standards from time to time to ensure that they address customers’ needs per changing environment and needs.
11. Protect the bank from losses emanating from errors, omissions, frauds or control lapse
12. Maintain good relationship between the team and other units in the Bank
13. Perform any other duty assigned by supervisor from time to time.

KEY COMPETENCIES, QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

1. Bachelor’s degree in a business course from an accredited university.
2. Minimum 3 years’ experience in Trade finance, coupled with credit processing in a busy commercial bank or microfinance bank
3. Working knowledge of Trade Finance Operations will be an added advantage
4. Proficiency in computer packages – Ms Word, Ms Excel and Ms Power point
5. Attention to detail, accuracy and diligence & analytical skillls
6. Strong interpersonal skills
7. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
8. Strong negotiation and problem solving skills
9. Ability to work under pressure
