    Partnerships and Investment Lead

    About the role

    The Partnerships and Investment team have joint accountability to raise funds and build partnerships in the UK and internationally for newly defined portfolios of work and raise match funding for large multi-year development programmes. The team manage resourcing from trusts and foundations, statutory donors, high net worth individuals, companies, and social enterprises. Although the post-holder will focus largely on foundations, statutory and trust funding the postholder needs to be versatile and able to engage with partners and donors at all levels with a willingness to fundraise across a wide range of disciplines where the need arises.

    About you

    We are looking for an experienced, skilled, and charismatic communicator with a proven track record of generating new business to minimum, six-figure sums, in an NGO or charity setting across a range of fundraising disciplines to help us reach new audiences and inspire potential donors and partners to support our important work.

    Role: Partnerships and Investment Lead (Kenya)

    Purpose:

    • To identify, create, develop, and maintain partnerships with statutory funders, trusts, and foundations, to increase impact and build flexible funding to
    • support Traidcraft Exchange’s work.

    Accountabilities:

    • Complete compelling partnership proposals and presentations in line with the organisational strategy
    • Ability to develop and work with technical proposals and complex project budgets
    • Specifically attract new partnerships and secure commitment of funds both from partners in Kenya and internationally
    • Contribute to the leadership and co-ordination of the Partnerships and Investment team and support colleagues to reach agreed personal and team targets
    • Contribute from a funding partnerships perspective into internal workstreams towards the design of programmatic portfolios
    • and derive a pipeline of well-positioned funding opportunities
    • Work with country teams to respond to donor queries and revise proposals and reports as required
    • Build and manage relationships with colleagues, funders, and influencers to support portfolios of work
    • Contribute to the design and delivery of a donor reporting structure
    • Build and maintain a network of public and private sector organisations to complement the specialisms of Traidcraft Exchange and to resource our work.
    • Produce periodic reports as required
    • Organise high level networking and small cultivation events and activities
    • Promote effective and efficient working practices, teamwork, and collaboration across teams/functions.
    • Ensure Traidcraft Exchange reports transparently and as required by donors on funding received
    • Continually seek and act upon opportunities for personal and team development
    • Carry out other duties, which may or may not be related to the job, as reasonably requested by colleagues
    • With colleagues, develop and deliver an innovative and diversified resourcing strategy around portfolios of work to ensure portfolios are supported sufficiently

    You will be:

    • An experienced, dynamic, and skilled fundraiser and networker with proven track record in generating income within at least one of the following
    • fundraising disciplines; trusts/foundations/statutory
    • Experience of working in an international organisation focussed on either development, trade, or human rights
    • Experienced in developing new trusts/foundations/statutory resourcing strategies and securing new income.
    • A detail person, skilled at research and persuasive writing, with the ability to liaise confidently, persuasively, and diplomatically with donors, partners and
    • colleagues.
    • A self-starter, who is capable of self-management and motivation, someone who can efficiently and effectively manage their time
    • Someone who can work differently, innovatively, creatively, and flexibly.
    • Someone who can engage with colleagues to decide how to work together and how to succeed.
    • Ready, willing, and able to represent our mission, our values and us uniqueness in every part of your job.
    • Prepared to embrace challenges you may not naturally find easy.
    • Be open to reflect and understand your own position of power, privilege, and bias.

    You will have:

    • Demonstrable recent and relevant trust, foundations, or statutory fundraising experience 3 years+
    • A proven track record of securing significant new business 6-figures+
    • A proven track record of shaping a resourcing strategy and developing a healthy portfolio of funders and partnerships
    • Effective networker
    • Excellent organisation, research and planning skills
    • Excellent verbal (including public speaking) and written communication skills
    • The ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
    • A team-player approach – making decisions for the best of the organisation rather than for individual or section targets
    • High level of computer literacy
    • Relevant fundraising qualification or a degree in a relevant subject
    • Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas
    • Personal commitment to justice and fairness

    You may have:

    • Major donor/corporate fundraising experience
    • Specific knowledge on trade, gender, and climate justice issues
    • Experience of working in a participatory grant-making setting
    • Raiser’s Edge experience
    • Experience of working in an international charity setting
    • Experience of overseas work or travel in developing countries
