    Partnerships Officer, P2,

    The Public and Private Partnerships (PPP) Section of the Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office (ESARO) provides guidance and technical support to 21 Country Offices and the Regional Office on effective engagements with public and private sector partners. The Section also develops and stewards regional/multi-country partnerships and regional-level strategic relationships, to open new avenues of collaboration, innovate new approaches, and secure resources for children’s rights and wellbeing across the region. The regional Private Sector Partnerships team works in close collaboration with country offices, regional and UNICEF global colleagues, in engaging with the private sector for financial and non-financial (advocacy, expertise, products and services, and Child Rights in Business Principles)

    How can you make a difference?

    The Partnerships Officer (Private Sector) will focus on growing incomes from private sector focused on foundations based in the region and through UNICEF global networks for countries in the region. The key role of the position will be to:

    • Cultivate, solicit and steward the Regional Office’s foundations portfolio in partnership with technical colleagues, and together with UNICEF’s Private Fundraising and Partnership Division (PFP), National Committees, support with the outreach, fundraising and stewardship of global foundations with partnerships or interests in the ESA region.
    • Support partnerships and fundraising capacity building and knowledge management activities towards RO and CO colleagues.
    • Support Private Fundraising and Partnership Division (PFP) Emergency Fundraising colleagues by maintaining a portfolio of ongoing crises that colleagues are fundraising for, ensuring the timely distribution of situation updates, budget needs and funding updates and work with programme colleagues and CO’s to track the pipeline for incomes for emergencies in the region.
    • Support the rollout of UNISON (UNICEF’s adaption of the SalesForce customer relationship management solution) across all 21 Country Offices. Including conducting trainings, onboarding and provide system feedback to headquarter teams.
    • Work closely with COs and PFP on digital fundraising, to enable a strategic shift of individual fundraising across the region for country office sustainability

    To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have

    • A university degree is required in one of the following fields: international relations, political science, communications, international development, or another relevant technical field.
    • A minimum of two years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas is required: public affairs, programme management, resource mobilization, external relations, or other relevant area, in an international organisation. Developing country work experience and familiarity with emergency fundraising, is considered an asset.
    • Fluency in both written and spoken English, and another UN language as a strong asset
