Pattern Maker Intern at Vivo Activewear

Job Purpose

The Pattern Maker Intern's main role is to interpret a design concept and put it to paper for the purposes of production. This position requires a close working relationship with the Design Team Leader, garment technologist and the sample making team. To ensure the patterns, measurements and construction process are according to the design concepts, as guided by the Design Team Lead.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure that all the patterns have been labelled well and placed at the correct place
• Ensure that you start with prototypes for designs that you’re not sure of
• Ensure that you work on at least 4 patterns on a daily basis
• Ensure all styles meet agreed fit, comfort and quality standards.
• Prompt feedback from the sample making team.
• Ensure that construction sheets are well documented to guide the sample makers in stitching the garments
• Contributing to sketching collection mood boards & styles
• Think innovatively at all stages of the creative, design and development process
• Stay abreast of parallel and influential local & global brands
• Influencer / Celebrity Collaborations
• Work closely with the Marketing & Retail Team to generate, and communicate collection/style direction and develop strong and consistent marketing messages/Brand image
• Contribute to visual merchandising guidance

Professional / Academic Background

• Have graduated with a university degree in Design
• Tech-Savvy / Passion for innovation and technology. Ability to sketch and CAD. Proficiency in PLM, Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator
