Provide clinical leadership and guidance on safe and quality patient care in the Accident and Emergency Department.
Participating in Recruitment, Orientation, Probation Reviews and Disciplinary process of Senior House Officers.
Responsible for Performance Management and Educational Development of SHOs.
Provision of clinical care to patients involving first contact care, urgent and emergency care.
Ensure all doctors are licensed and facilitate privileging of doctors.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Participate in discussions with relevant members of the clinical care team to enable better integration of patient care activities.
Work closely with members of the clinical care team to reduce errors and waste, improve skillfulness and resource utilization.
Initiate discussions with other consultants and colleagues to enable integration of clinical key performance indicators, shared knowledge, institutional quality improvement and patient outcomes.
Monitor patient flow and reduce wait times while maintaining care quality.
Participate in the budget formulation and monitoring.
Manage the departmental budget and resources efficiently.
Optimize the use of technological solutions for patient care and administrative functions.
Ensure the availability of necessary medical supplies and equipment.
Participates in scholarly activities including emergency medicine research.
Participates in the coordination of educational programs within Accident and Emergency involving residents and emergency medicine diplomates.
Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills required:
Master of Medicine in Family Medicine or its equivalent
Diploma in Emergency Medicine
Minimum academic position of Senior Instructor
Demonstrated Healthcare Leadership Position – Section Head in Emergency Medicine Departments
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal communication.
Ability to independently prioritize work, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Innovative and good managerial skills
Mature and commands respect among professional colleagues and residents
