Plant Manager at New Kenya Co-operative Creameries Limited

JOB PURPOSE:

To ensure that raw milk is always available and in the right quantity and quality for the production of quality milk and dairy products.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Implement strategies to ensure sustained optimal milk-intake levels
2. Oversee recruiting and training milk suppliers
3. Develop relationships and networks with stakeholders in the cluster
4. Implement strategies for extension services to farmers
5. Coordinating field activities such as field days and agricultural shows within the cluster
6. Attending to all internal and external matters relating to milk procurement in the
7. cluster.
8. Handling farmers and milk supplier’s concerns
9. Ensuring plant operations are cost effective
10. Reporting plant issues to the head office
11. Controlling and monitoring all resources
12. Supporting events such as Farmers Field Days, workshops and forums
13. Ensuring the milk received is of good quality
14. Any other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor

Qualifications and Personal Specifications:

1. A minimum period of eight (8) years in relevant work experience and at least three (3) years in supervisory role in a position in the Public Service or Private Sector.
2. Master’s degree in animal science, Animal production, veterinary science or any other relevant qualifications is an added advantage.
3. Bachelor’s degree in in animal science, Animal production, veterinary science or
4. Equivalent qualifications.
5. Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
6. Proficiency in computer applications
7. Good Communication skills
8. Demonstrated results in work performance; and
9. Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the constitution
