Principal Laboratory Technician Grade, KIP 7 at Kenya Institute of Primate Research (KIPRE)

VACANCY No. KIP/PLT7/2025

For appointment to this grade, an Officer MUST have:

• At least eight (8) years relevant work experience;
• Diploma in any of the following fields: Medical Laboratory Sciences, Laboratory Sciences, Laboratory Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
• Registration Certificate issued by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) where applicable;
• Valid practicing license from Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board where applicable;
• Proficiency in computer applications;
• Demonstrated work performance and results;
• Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

 Duties and responsibilities

• Implementing laboratory standards and procedures;
• Supervising and guiding laboratory technicians, interns and students;
• Collecting, receiving, processing and storing of sample to ensure integrity for future use;
• Maintaining laboratory equipment for smooth running of the procedures;
• Ensuring clean and safe working environment to avoid contamination of final products;
• Designing and develop the necessary laboratory infrastructure needed for biobanking
• Performing biobanking activities
• Preparing and storing laboratory reagents;
• Maintain records of tests and samples;
• Supporting field research activities
• Ensure compliance to regulatory requirements and licensure;
• Performing analytical and diagnostic procedures in the laboratory to contribute to efficiency in service delivery;
• and ensuring that all laboratory waste is disinfected and disposed appropriately to avoid environmental contamination.
