    Principal Surveyor, Search and Rescue

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    • Implement the national search and rescue plan for coastal and inland waterways
    • Review and update of the national search and rescue plan for coastal and inland waters
    • Implement of the national search and rescue plan for coastal and inland waters
    • Conducting public awareness campaigns on maritime search and rescue.
    • Implementation of International Conventions and instruments relating to maritime search and rescue manages the Kenya Ship Reporting System in order to keep track of vessels around the coastal waters and within the Exclusive Economic Zone to call upon for support during SAR operations;
    • Management of the Kenya emergency beacons e.g updating the EPIRBs database
    • Implementation of the requirements of regional SAR agreements.

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor Degree in Telecommunication Engineering or any other relevant qualifications from a recognized institution; Masters degree in any of the fields will be an added advantage;
    • GMDSS - General Operator Certificate of Competency in accordance with the
    • International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watch keeping 1978,as amended
    • Minimum of three (3) years of service as a GMDSS Operator;
    • Certificate in a supervisory Course from a recognized institution;
    • Proficiency in computer applications; and
    • Be a member of a relevant professional body will be an added advantage;

    Terms of Service and Remuneration; Pensionable terms of service, medical cover
    Remuneration (kshs.); Basic salary: 115,500.00 to 285,500.00, House allowance: 30,000.00, Commuter allowance: 16,000.00

    Method of Application

    The candidates to be selected must adhere io the provisions of Chapter VI on Leadership and Integrity as enshrined in the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

    Interested candidates must submit certificates of compliance from the Kenya Revenue Authority, the Credit Reference Bureau, the Higher Education Loans Board and a Certificate of Good Conduct from the Criminal Investigations Department.
