    Private Equity Principal

    The PE Investment Principal will play a pivotal role in advancing W2AF’s strategy by driving private equity investments in the safe drinking water sector in Africa. This role requires extensive equity transaction experience, deep knowledge of the water, infrastructure, recycling, agriculture or sustainability sectors, and the ability to deliver significant financial and social returns. This position is permanent, and ideally based in Nairobi, Kenya. Other locations in Africa region can be considered and Incofin can offer a relocation package for the selected candidate. The position holder reports to Deputy Fund Manager.

    Your Key Responsibilities

    • Source and originate high-potential investment opportunities in the water sector across Sub-Saharan Africa through personal and organizational networks.
    • Conduct comprehensive due diligence, including financial, tax, legal, ESG, and impact assessments.
    • Lead negotiations on transaction structuring, investment terms, and shareholder agreements.
    • Present and defend investment proposals to the investment committee, ensuring alignment with fund objectives.
    • Actively manage equity investments, participate in boards, and monitor performance to drive value creation and impact.
    • Oversee responsible exits to maximize value realization for investors.
    • Collaborate with global teams to ensure alignment with best practices in private equity.
    • Represent Incofin at industry events, strengthening its market presence and influence.

    Your Profile

    • The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field and at least 7-10 years of experience in equity investment, including end-to-end transaction management. A proven track record in the water, infrastructure, or sustainability sectors is required, along with a deep understanding of regional economies in Africa.
    • Non-negotiable requirements for this role are: strong origination and execution experience, excellent communication and negotiation abilities, and hands-on management expertise to lead transactions autonomously. The candidate must be willing to travel up to 50% and have a passion for solving real-world problems in underserved markets. Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in French or other relevant regional languages is an advantage.
