    Product Manager (Digtal Health Platforms)

    Department: Product and Operations

    Reports To: Director, Product and Operations

    Position Overview

    The Product Manager will lead the end-to-end lifecycle management of digital health platforms, ensuring products deliver value to healthcare providers, government institutions and citizens. The role bridges policy, user needs, technology and product delivery, translating national health priorities and operational requirements into scalable digital products aligned with Kenya’s digital health architecture. The Product Manager will work closely with Solution Architects, engineering teams, government stakeholders and consortium partners to ensure successful product delivery, adoption and continuous improvement.

    Product Portfolio 

    Product Managers will support one or more of the following platforms:

    • Facility HMIS for Level 5 & 6 hospitals
    • Comprehensive eClaims platform for Social Health Authority (SHA)
    • AI-driven fraud detection and claims intelligence
    • Electronic Quality Management System (EQMS)
    • Drug Utilisation Review (DUR)
    • Unified National Logistics Management Information System (NLMIS)
    • National Health Data Lake and analytics platforms

    All products integrate with  National HIE, DHA shared services and other associated systems.

    Key Responsibilities

    Product Strategy & Vision

    • Define the product vision, roadmap, and long-term strategy aligned with national digital health priorities.
    • Ensure alignment with Kenya Health Enterprise Architecture (KHEA) and DHA interoperability standards.

    Product Planning & Roadmap Management

    • Develop and maintain product roadmaps and release plans.
    • Prioritize features based on user needs, government priorities, and strategic impact.

    Requirements Management

    • Gather requirements from government institutions, healthcare providers, and stakeholders.
    • Translate requirements into Product Requirement Documents (PRDs), user stories, and acceptance criteria.

    Product Development & Delivery

    • Work closely with Solution Architects and Engineering teams to deliver scalable systems.
    • Participate in sprint planning, backlog management, and product releases.

    Stakeholder Engagement

    • Serve as a liaison between product teams and stakeholders including MoH, DHA, SHA, and consortium partners.
    • Facilitate product demonstrations, workshops, and feedback sessions.

    Data, Analytics & Product Performance

    • Define product analytics and performance indicators.
    • Leverage data lake and analytics platforms to generate insights for system optimization.

    Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement

    • Ensure products meet performance, security, and reliability standards.
    • Drive continuous improvements based on feedback and data insights.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in: Computer Science, Information Systems, Health Informatics, Software Engineering, Public Health, Business or related field
    • A Masters degree in a relevant discipline (Health Informatics, Public Health, Business Administration, Data Science, or Technology Management) is an added advantage.
    • Certifications in Product Management, Agile/Scrum, or Digital Health are desirable.
    • 5–8 years of experience in product management, digital platforms, or health technology.
    • Experience managing complex software platforms or digital transformation initiatives.
    • Experience working with government institutions or large public sector programs is highly desirable.
    • Familiarity with:
    • Digital health systems and healthcare workflows
    • Health information systems (HMIS, EMR)
    • Health financing and claims systems
    • Supply chain/logistics systems
    • Interoperability frameworks (HL7 FHIR, APIs)
    • Data analytics and reporting platforms
    • Agile product development methodologies
