    Product Research and Insights Manager

    What Were Looking For

    We are looking for a user centered and impact focused Product Research and Insights Manager to lead the Medical Equipment Discovery team. An ideal candidate for this role will be able to navigate tough decisions and ambiguity by leaning into iteration and feedback. We are looking for a Product Research & Insights Manager experienced in early product discovery, to lead this program by creating strong connections with users and quickly generating evidence on solutions that can improve the utilization of medical equipment. If you love being the first to explore new territory, and have a knack for zeroing in on high-impact customer problems, then this role is for you! This is a full time remote position based in Nairobi, and will report directly to the CEO.

    In this role you will:

    Find the Highest Impact Use Cases

    • Lead through others as you and your team focus on finding the most important pain points and impactful problems Ministry of Health medical workers in Kenya and their use of medical equipment.
    • Leverage resources across the organization to prototype and iterate quickly, and to articulate and document our learnings and use cases as we go.
    • Define and clearly communicate research insights, both internally and externally, using data to define and measure success

    Champion Growth and Impact

    • Cultivate and maintain partnerships with funders, strategic and implementation partners, and national ministries, balancing competing interests while articulating tradeoffs and externalizing and sharing learnings. This includes:
      • Delivering on the commitments laid out in our donor’s contract, being able to navigate competing timelines and stakeholders
      • Bringing key external stakeholders along on the journey, sharing what we learn, and challenging our thinking.
    • Work with the Strategic Partnership and Engagement team to strengthen the impact of our market shaping work by bringing thought leadership and generating data-driven insights and key messages that highlight the state of medical equipment today and enable powerful take-aways.
    • Set and report internally on annual and quarterly OKRs and externally on deliverables and reports with funders and partners.

    • Build a great team with the right design and capabilities in place to nurture innovation and achieve our goals, while providing focus, inspiration, and ownership for the team.
    • Foster a culture that accelerates our impact by creating an environment where your team lives our values and does their best work, and their unique perspectives and strengths are unleashed.
    • Use product management thinking and principles to help your team understand our users through user science (user interviews, persona mapping, journey mapping, etc) and to build strong testing hypotheses to evaluate solutions quickly.

    Requirements

    • 5+ years working on technology-powered products as a product manager with demonstrated success solving complex customer problems
    • Familiarity with leading cross functional teams with an ability to bring laser focus and articulate the team’s vision and strategy, while influencing without authority
    • Experience leading, interacting and synthesizing user feedback, understanding the value that user engagement has in early product discovery
    • Ability to communicate in compelling ways and bring clarity to ambiguous situations by articulating tradeoffs, empowering your team to make and follow through on strategic decisions
    • Approaches feedback and iteration openly, with the ability to embrace tensions and consider multiple viewpoints when approaching solutions to problems
    • Ability to build effective and persuasive business cases that helps define and drive strategy using logic and data over opinion

    Bonus points

    • Experience in with health systems, hospitals, medical equipment
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Experience working on a global team across multiple time zones
