    Programme and Communication Assistant

    This role will support the implementation of the Africa Sustainable Investment & Infrastructure (ASI) Programme that is aimed at to promoting sustainable investment and infrastructure development Africa and hosted in Kenya with a focus on inward investments from China and African countries with a focus on the African Union, African Development Bank, China, Kenya, Tanzania and Madagascar. The programme and communication assistant will provide operational support (50%) as well lead on communication (50%) for the ASI programme and this role will report to the ASI Regional Coordinator at WWF-Kenya. The role is expected to build relationships with a range of stakeholders including WWF Programme and National Offices, Practices, Conservation Managers and Programme teams across various conservation themes.
     
    Key Responsibilities
     
    Overall support: 

    The ASI Regional Coordinator and WWF teams in the implementation of the Africa Sustainable Investments and Infrastructure Programme (ASI) Programme.
     
    Operations (50%):

    • Logistics: support programme logistics including setting up virtual or face to face meetings, workshops, seminars and webinars and conferences, as well reports and or minutes of meetings.
    • Procurement: facilitate and follow up processes related to procurement of goods and services by the ASI programme ensuring these are timeline and diligent
    • Finances: provide support to ASI programme regional and finance manager to ensure that activities match with the set budget, and that expenditures are both timely and diligent
    •  Knowledge management: Ensures knowledge management and institutional of the regional ASI work through policy research, publication and dissemination of policy briefs and papers to different/relevant stakeholders and platforms;

    Communications (50%)

    • Strategy: help develop and implement the ASI programme communication strategy in coordination and aligned with communication strategies of the WWF Regional Office for Africa (RoA), WWF country offices in China, Kenya, Tanzania and Madagascar, and the WWF network in general
    • Platforms and processes: support the development of communication platforms and processes such as ASI website, google docs folder, newsletter, and other range of media deemed relevant aligned with WWF branding guidelines
    • Compile and publish content: communicate about the ASI programme by regularly compiling and publishing on and off-line content, stories, news and features on the ASI website, ASI newsletter and other content across a variety of media in coordination with ASI team, WWF (RoA), WWF offices, partner CSOs and all the other relevant external stakeholders.
    • Capacity and follow up: provide communications advice, capacity building and support both internally ensuring the timely delivery of communications products;

    Qualifications

    •  At least 3 years of proven experience in public relations, communication or marketing.
    • Degree or equivalent work experience in management, public relations and communication. Knowledge in graphic design is an asset.
    • Knowledge of conservation, development studies or social sciences a plus
    • Proven ability to innovate, take initiatives and work alone or in a team
    •  Understanding of and exposure to international development issues and programmes are an asset.

    Key Skills /Competencies

    • Good knowledge of web-based technology, multi-media software
    •  Good organizational, writing and communication skills
    • Excellent diplomatic and networking skills
    •  Ability to work and communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of individuals within a wide range of cultural environments
    •  Fluency in English, with fluency in other languages a distinct advantage
    •  Ability to work well both independently and as a member of a team
    •  Excellent interpersonal skills, including a positive ‘can do’ attitude
    •  Adheres to WWF’s values, which are: Courage, Integrity, Respect and Collaboration
