Eligibility criteria
Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.
Description of task
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Private Sector Unit, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
- Support private sector engagement at the corporate level:
- Support the partnership process with private sector partners using the UN Environment Programme’s online Partners’ Portal, including validation, risk and strategy assessments
- Conduct training workshops on the use of the Partners’ Portal, webinars and make presentations on other assigned activities
- Assist in the development of toolkits and guidelines for private sector engagement in the UN Environment Programme
- Support the preparations of various written outputs, such as background papers; briefing notes and publications on private sector engagement
- Support the maintenance of mailing lists and database of private sector partnerships.
- Support the preparations of international environmental conferences, especially in engaging business and industry major groups, as well as foundations:
- Support the organization of private sector-related events such as UNEP Leaders’ Breakfasts/Lunches.
- Support preparations for private sector participation in major UN Environment Programme events, such as the Sustainable Innovation Expo.
- Support the registration procedure for private sector representatives during major UN Environment Programme events.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Bachelor degree or equivalent Education - Additional Comments:
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, information systems management or a related field is required.
Required experience: 24 Months Experience remark:
- The UN Volunteer should have experience in information management and data analysis, with a broad experience in research.
- A minimum of two years’ experience of working with public private sector partnerships, or International Organizations and especially on environment-related activities is required.
- Good understanding of the role of private sector partnerships and its engagement.
- Understanding of and experience with the UN Environment Programme’s Governing Bodies activities is an advantage.

- Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
- Strong ability to work and interact well with diverse groups.
- Ability to plan, prioritize and deliver tasks effectively and on time.
- Computer literacy.
Languages: Excellent command of English is required; knowledge of an additional UN official language is a plus.
