    Project Officer

    Project: Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health (Safire) Project

    Reporting To: Team Lead

    Reporting Date: Immediately

    Remuneration: Kes. 160,000, Exclusive of related benefits

    About the Project: Supporting Access for Adolescents to Integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health Services (Safire) is a five-year programme (2018–2022) which aims to reduce morbidity and mortality associated with unintended pregnancies among girls (10 – 19 years of age) in Kenya (Kiambu, Uasin Gishu and Bungoma Counties).

     

    It will achieve this by improving girls’ access to quality Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH) information and services in the private sector, addressing community barriers through stigma reduction and creating community referral networks, and using existing technology such as social media and hotlines.

     

    The integrated Safire model comprise of three key work streams: Information Pathways for Girls, Community Engagement, and Quality Services. KMET is a lead partner in the Quality of Services work stream which includes training and support supervision.

     

    Job Summary: The Project Officer has responsibilities to ensure effective implementation and linkage between service delivery and demand generation while ensuring quality of care that meets the National, organizational and funder standards.

     

    The Officer provides day-to-day guidance and technical assistance in implementing and monitoring project activities in Kiambu County and participates in relevant stakeholders’ engagements. The position collaborated closely with the other pathway team leads, as well as with a range of external partners and stakeholders.

     

    Roles and Responsibilities

     

    Health systems:

    • Monitor continued service provision of Adolescents reproductive health services at assigned pharmacies and health facilities and documenting the same.
    • Liaise with the other Team leads on technical issues arising from Pharmacies, health facilities and community for follow-up and action.
    • Link providers and clinical mentors/ program support team members as need arise to ensure quality continuum of care.
    • Conducting quality of care checks and making effort to address emerging issues promptly.
    • Monitor availability of commodities and liaising with the technical advisors and commodities focal point for support to resolve gaps.

    Community Access support:

    • Liaise with the Community technical teams to discuss l issues arising from communities and health facilities for follow-up and action and monitoring of their implementation.
    • Provide linkage between demand generation and service delivery in liaison with community advisors.

    Project monitoring:

    • Collection of service provision data from Pharmacies and transmission of the same using the appropriate reporting tools and systems.
    • Submission of monthly reports and calendar of activities to supervisors.
    • Identification of success stories within the pharmacies and health facilities and liaise with the Communication team for documentation

    Administrative:

    • Coordination of meetings and trainings with Pharmacies and Health facilities as may be assigned from time to time.
    • Accurate reporting of work assignments in various ICT platforms for Quality of Care.
    • Carry out any other duties as assigned.

    Education and Experience

    • Relevant Degree / Diploma in Medical related or Pharm-tech field.
    • At least 3 years relevant work experience in the area of ASRH.
    • Knowledge in ASRH, capacity building and training of providers.
    • Relevant experience in working in adolescent reproductive health programs and especially with a focus on contraception, Post abortion care and community mobilization for behavior change.
    • Experience in training/ coordination, administration, and/or public health is preferred
    • Ability to travel by road frequently (with a valid driving license).
    • Ready to reside in project implementation site.
