    Project Officer, Child Labour

    Roles and responsibilities

    • Project activity planning and implementation. In consultation with project coordinator prepare detailed activity plans, budgets and implement according to organizational values, guiding principles, strategies and project requirements.
    • Community mobilization, participation and capacity building. In collaboration with the project coordinator mobilize project stakeholders, identify gaps and facilitate capacity building trainings( to project resource persons, children, parents, caregivers, CBOs and local groups) , raise community awareness and conduct dialogue sessions and other support for local and community stakeholders on child labour. Ensure maximum participation of the community, children and partners in planning, implementation and monitoring.
    • Project activity monitoring and reporting. Conduct day to day monitoring and supervision of the planned project activities implementation, conduct routine data collection on the project specific output indicators, prepare activity reports and provide information for project reporting
    • Networking and partnerships. Identify and closely work with local stakeholders in the course of project planning and implementation and facilitate regular scheduled reviews of project with stakeholders. Represent the project and organization in meetings, conferences and networks as assigned
    • Financial management and reporting: Prepare project activity budgets, ensure that project activity funds are utilized well and accounted for in a timely manner
    • Support supervision and mentorship: Ensure that community facilitators, volunteers and local stakeholders, understand and are able to perform their roles based on the project objectives and expected outcomes
    • Technical support. Identify other opportunities in an ongoing manner that will add value to the overarching goal of the project and contribute to the development of project resource materials.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of basic degree in social sciences /development studies/ community development or related disciplines
    • At least 3 years proven experience in community development work implementing child protection projects (with at least 1 year in child labour projects)
    • Demonstrated understanding of relevant laws and standards on child rights, child labour and child protection
    • Strong project implementation and administration experience
    • Solid understanding and experience in community engagement with demonstrated experience in working with children, parents, caregivers and local authorities and committees
    • Solid planning, budgeting and project reporting knowledge
    • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
    • Able engage and supervise community change agents to ensure appropriate project activities are being implemented
