    Project Officer - DMDP Programme

    ABOUT DANIDA MARKET DEVELOPMENT PARTNERSHIP (DMDP) PROGRAMME

    Programme Overview

    The Danida Market Development Partnership (DMDP) Programme is designed to give an opportunity to enterprises that are keen on delivering towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The programme brings commercial and non-commercial actors together in partnerships to promote sustainable business, development and employment opportunities contributing to SDGs 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and 17 (Partnerships for Sustainable Development).**

    Job Purpose

    The job is responsible for the design and implementation of value chain strategies integral to achieving the objectives of the Banana DMDP Project and MESPT Programme objectives.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Participate in programme planning, review, and co-ordination meetings.
    • Participate in setting and tracking project performance targets in line with overall strategic goal of the Project
    • Promote functional collaboration with project partners and other stakeholders to strengthen the performance of the banana value chain within Taita Taveta county.
    • Implement day to day activities in close consultation with consortium partners and other key stakeholders for successful achievement of project targets and objectives.
    • Build and manage effective partnerships with strategic value chain players and manage contracts with vendors.
    • Provide input to institutional annual and quarterly work plans and activity reports, and to monitoring & evaluation.
    • Work closely with the community in the region to identify and manage opportunities and risks, and approaches for development of the value chain.
    • Contribute to analytical work, advisory services and knowledge products related to the value chain, including studies and action plans, benchmarks, and indicators to monitor progress, training, and dissemination activities.
    • Support development of the value chain data base. This will require working with other departments to compile reliable and comparable data.
    • Facilitate documentation and sharing of information and lessons learnt with partners and other programme(s) staff.
    • Participate in preparation of periodic programmatic and financial reports.
    • Represent the project at government, donors, NGOs, and other relevant events in close coordination with the supervisor and the management team.

    Key Results Areas

    1. Deliver project output and outcome targets.
    2. A vibrant banana sector in the target county.
    3. Vibrant Farm Estates and farmers and other value chain actors.
    4. Efficient and sustainable business models for the value chain.
    5. Active stakeholder participation in the development of the value chain.
    6. Comprehensive Project reports.

    Job Specification

    • University degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agribusiness, Project Management, or related field.
    • At least 5 years of relevant working experience, of which at least 3 years are in the field of value chain Management, Project Management and Green growth.
    • Good Communication and interpersonal Skills
    • Good Report writing skills and highly organized.
