Psychological Counsellor II - 9 Posts at Public Service Commission Kenya (PSCK)

Duties and Responsibilities  
This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will include:-

• Undertaking initial client assessment; 
• Administering counselling contract to client(s); 
• Conducting individual counselling sessions; 
• Developing psychological explanation of the client issues;
• Referring clients to specialists; and 
• Documenting, recording and keeping appropriate psychological counselling information and records

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-

• A Bachelors Degree in any of the following fields: Counselling, Counselling Psychology, Psychology (Counselling), or equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya;

OR

• A Bachelors Degree in any of the following fields: Clinical Psychology, Occupational Psychology, Social Psychology, Sociology, Education, Social Work or equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya and a Diploma in Counselling or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution in Kenya;
• A Registration Certificate issued by the Counsellors and Psychologists Board; and
• A valid practicing license from the Counsellors and Psychologists Board
