    Qualitative Researcher

    Qualifications

    1. Minimum of bachelor’s degree in social science disciplines, particularly sociology and anthropology from a recognized university
    2. Possession of a Master’s degree in the above disciplines from a recognized university will be an added advantage

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Develop an in-depth understanding of study design and goals, and ensure that the study is conducted
    2. in compliance with study protocols and other regulatory requirements.
    3. Identify and mobilize eligible participants for the interviews
    4. Work closely with the study coordinators to prepare weekly interview schedules
    5. Conduct qualitative interviews among participants
    6. Assist in transcription and translation of the collected data
    7. Take lead in developing codebook and coding of transcripts
    8. Provide regular progress reports to the study coordinators
    9. Assist in coordinating community advisory group (CAG) meetings
    10. Ensure the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of research and data collection activities
    11. Participate in regular research team meetings
    12. Respond to questions about the study posed by participants and any other relevant persons
    13. Lead and/or collaborate in the analysis of qualitative data and the preparation of reports to funders and for peer-reviewed journals
    14. Disseminate and present research findings for information and advocacy to government officials, health professionals, and community leaders
    15. Disseminate and present research findings at national and international meetings

    Additional desirable qualities

    1. Knowledge and experience in community entry strategies
    2. Knowledge in qualitative data cleaning and coding
    3. Commitment to integrity and high-quality performance
    4. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in both English and Swahili
    5. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
    6. Keen and attentive to detail
    7. Ability to follow instructions and procedures
    8. Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision
    9. Flexibility to travel and interview participants in time and place of their convenience
