Record to Report Analyst at Safaricom Kenya

Reporting to the Record to Report Team Lead, the individual is responsible for completeness, accuracy and timeliness of preparation of the general ledger and the associated reporting requirements in accordance with Safaricom policies and International Accounting Standards

The R2R Analyst is also expected to deliver services as defined in the Service Level Agreement (SLA) /KPI’s applicable for the role.

Job Responsibilities

• Preparation and posting of journal entries for Safaricom and its subsidiaries
• Collaborate with team leader in ensuring data integrity and preparing financial information
• Managing accruals for expenses and amortization of prepaid expenses and maintaining balance schedule for the same
• Complying with Month End closing requirements and deadlines
• Ensuring there are no outstanding transactions that are not completed before closing
• Assist team leader in performing the periodic close of general ledger which includes maintaining the close schedule, scheduling of subsystem feeds and communicating to stakeholders when the monthly trial balance is finalized.
• Ensuring monthly checklists are completed without exception
• Performing analysis for expenses and revenues
• Preparation of periodic and ad hoc reports as requested by management
• Following adequate rules, policies, procedures and instructions
• Participating in R2R processes improvements/ projects to increase efficiencies in line with leading practices
• Assist in the coordination of internal and external audits and reviews.
• Perform revenue reconciliations and validation before posting
• Maintain balance sheet and Profit and Loss schedules
• Perform any other duty as assigned by the reporting authority.

Job Requirements               

• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance - required
• 4+ years of professional experience in General Ledger including Intercompany, reconciliation, revenue and cost accounting
• General knowledge of accounting principles and IFRS required
• Experience in ERP Financial system preferably Oracle
• Good knowledge in excel and other analytic tools such as Power BI, Qlik Sense
• Familiarity with database querying languages such as SQL or Python - Good to have
• Recognized professional qualification CPA(K)/ACCA
• Pays keen attention to details
• Proper Understanding of internal control elements
