    Regional PMEL Specialist- Kisumu

    As a Regional PMEL Specialist at Agriterra, you support the project team, composed of cooperative advisors and a project manager, located in the Kisumu office, in Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (PMEL) activities to ensure the impact of Agriterra’s work can be monitored and demonstrated to relevant stakeholders.

    The Regional PMEL Specialist works in collaboration with other Regional PMEL Specialists, and the HQ PMEL Specialist assigned to the region, all coordinated by the Team Lead PMEL based in headquarters.

    Among other tasks, you will be responsible for reviewing and ensuring proper registration of data and documentation in our reporting software agro-info.net (AIN) in relation to action plans, activities, beneficiary organisations, and results. Hereby, you will be training, coaching, and daily communicating your findings with the cooperative advisor colleagues who implement the activities in the field. Additionally, you will support the analysis of data to identify potential risks in the implementation of the program and proactively communicate your findings to the Project lead and regional manager, as well as support the preparation of internal and external reports.

    Duties

    • Assist in acquisition: support the teams in the region to write winning proposals by ensuring our mandate is clearly incorporated, the intervention is coherent and logical, the activities and results are realistic and aligned with the budget, and the indicators are defined smartly (clear, measurable, and achievable: within a sound M&E framework).
    • Program set-up: supports the project team to set up programs in the inception phase by developing a logical framework and baseline when necessary, contributes to the kick-off meeting, and supports staff members in the region to register data properly and documentation, and proactively requests adjustments to data dashboards to fine-tune them to the necessities of the program and requests of the team
    • Program implementation: support the project team to properly register data and documentation during program implementation, activate and close projects following internal procedures and validations, routinely perform monitoring and control of activities, data and documentation registration and steer when necessary, elaborate internal reports when requested by program manager, regional manager or management at HQ level, proactively inform program manager and regional manager of program implementation deviations, and support staff members with the program technical report writing for donor.
    • Communication: report on progress in all program activities in the region towards teams and regional leadership. Communicate and align procedures with M&E officers from donor and partner organizations, and create the program structure in our internal information software agro-info.net.
    • Quality control: Support project-level M&E to ensure the M&E activities in all the programs within the region have sufficient rigor to meet internal and donor requirements. Monitor feedback mechanisms to address deficiencies and to improve service delivery. Performing quality checks on data, including data cleaning and verification of data. Provide training and support to program staff on internal procedures and data registration, peer-review processes, and facilitate learning sessions for other stakeholders.

    What do you bring

    Educational background

    • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, economics, development studies, or related field.
    • Master’s degree preferred.

    Experience

    • 3 years of relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation roles, preferably in agriculture or cooperative development.
    • Experience with donor-funded projects is an advantage.
