    School Driver

    Job Summary:

    • The overall purpose of the job is to ensure safe and timely transportation of students to and from school or to any other designated educational activities as per the School’s guidelines and designated routes.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Safely transport students to and from school or other designated educational activities in a timely and professional manner.
    • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure they are fully equipped with tools and first aid kits to ensure adherence to Schools’ Health and Safety policy and that the vehicle is in proper working condition.
    • Follow the daily predetermined route and ensure all students assigned to their route are aboard at all times and that they arrive in school on time.
    • Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, regulatory compliance, maintenance & repairs, and any other required information and submit it to the supervisor on a monthly basis.
    • Follow all traffic and safety laws, including obeying speed limits and using signals and other safety equipment.
    • Maintain a clean and safe vehicle by cleaning and disinfecting regularly and reporting any necessary maintenance or repairs for proper planning.
    • Act as a liaison officer between the school and the parents to get and respond to parents’ inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
    • Ensure safety of students while they are entering, exiting, and riding in the vehicle.
    • Report any accidents, injuries, or other incidents in a timely manner to the supervisor for proper measures to be developed to prevent recurrence.
    • Follow emergency procedures in the event of an accident or other emergency.
    • Ensure students and staff are aware of rules and regulations as passengers on school vehicles.
    • Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor when interacting with students, parents, and school staff.
    • Assist the mechanic in vehicle maintenance as and when required.
    • Attend training sessions to stay up-to-date on any changes in regulatory compliance, policies, and procedures.
    • Assist the bus assistant in maintaining order and discipline on the school vehicle.
    • Attend staff meetings as and when required.
    • Perform any other responsibilities assigned to the job holder by the supervisor from time to time.

    Qualifications:

    • O level Certificate.
    • Valid Driving Licence BC, D1, D2, D3 (For Institutional Vehicles).
    • Valid Public Service Vehicle Licence.
    • Minimum of one year experience in a school setup.

    Desired Competencies and Attributes:

    • Knowledge of traffic and safety laws and regulations.
    • Ability to read and follow maps, schedules, and directions.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair.
    • Familiarity with GPS systems and other navigation tools.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills.
    • Basic mechanical and maintenance knowledge.
    • First aid skills.
    • A strong sense of responsibility and commitment to the safety of students.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures and schedules.
    • Good judgment and decision-making skills.
    • Good organization skills.
    • Good time management skills.
    • Responsible and dependable.
    • Patient and calm under pressure.
    • Team player.
