    Senior Accountant / Financial Controller

    Here is what you will do:

    • Help oversee the day-to-day accounting of the business and ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately, timely, and in compliance with accounting standards
    • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, including tax and statutory payment requirements in Kenya as well as potential new markets
    • Ensure books are reconciled and closed out in a timely manner each month
    • Support in preparation of monthly management reports
    • Help manage projects to automate accounting workflows to enable close to real-time reporting and analysis
    • Lead annual audit preparation and communication with auditors
    • Regularly review and update key financial policies and procedures as needed and ensure company-wide compliance

    Requirements

    • BS/MS degree in business administration, finance, or accounting, or equivalent experience in the workforce
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Kenya or abroad
    • Minimum 8 years of work experience in finance-related functions with management oversight over bookkeeping, accounting, and/or financial reporting
    • Detailed understanding of Kenyan tax and statutory payment requirements (knowledge and experience working in additional African markets a plus)
    • Expert working with Quickbooks Online and Microsoft Excel
    • Highly motivated, adaptable, self-starter who is committed to continuous improvement
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
    • Strong attention to detail and zero tolerance for a lapse in financial controls
    • Team player with a desire to help grow junior team members
    • While not required, please highlight your experience working in other African markets
