    Senior Assistant Driver Examination Officer

    SENIOR ASSISTANT DRIVER EXAMINATION OFFICER (GRADE NTSA 9/8) - REF: NTSA/03/2022/07

    Reporting to the Principal Driver Examination and Quality Assurance Officer, the job holder is responsible for ensuring implementation of drivers’ curriculum and standards.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Ensure implementation of drivers’ curriculum and standards;
    • Ensuring there is quality control in the implementation of the drivers’ curriculum including driver testing;
    • Support in the implementation of medical assessment of drivers before driver training and periodically prior to re-training and re-licensing;
    • Develop and implement a nationwide plan/roadmap to re-train and assess medically all drivers in Kenya to improve their road safety knowledge, skills, behaviours and attitudes to reduce the driver associated crashes;
    • Administer instructor tests before licensing of the instructors training curriculum and standards; Ensuring that there is quality control in the implementation of the instructor curriculum including instructor testing; Maintenance of list of driving school instructors and driver examiners countrywide;
    • Ensure strict implementation of driver training curriculum and standards especially during administration of driver test which should be in line within the curriculum;
    • Ensuring that there is quality control in the implementation of the examiners’ curriculum including driver testing;
    • Regular and periodic inspections of the driving schools to ensure quality control as envisaged in the driving school rules to ensure adherence to the driving schools standards; and oversee the training and testing drivers;
    • Ensuring that there is quality control in the implementation of the instructor curriculum including instructor testing;
    • Support in the implementation of medical assessment of drivers before driver training and periodically prior to re-training and re-licensing;
    • Support in maintenance of register of driver trainees and driving instructor in which they administer the test as required by Traffic rules and regulations.
    • Administer both theory and practical tests for driver and instructor trainees.

    Qualifications, Skills and Experience

    • Diploma in Social Sciences, Education, Public Administration, Business Administration, Law, Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution;
    • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade C- (minus) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
    • A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for all classes of vehicles;
    • Defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
    • Attended a Refresher Course for drivers lasting not less than one (1) week within every three (3) years at Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution;
    • Attended a First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week at St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution;
    • Computer Proficiency; and
    • Fulfil the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution
