Job Description

• Senior Full Stack Developer to own and deliver features across our entire stack — from mobile apps (Flutter) to backend APIs (Django/Python) and production infrastructure, architecting solutions  and shipping high-quality code end-to-end at scale.

Roles & Responsibilities

Backend & API Development

• Architect and develop scalable, high-performance backend systems using Python and Django, implementing clean architectural patterns like Service Layers to decouple business logic from views.
• Design and maintain secure RESTful and GraphQL APIs, utilizing custom middleware, robust exception handling, and fine-grained DRF throttling for seamless integration.
• Implement real-time and asynchronous capabilities via Django Channels (WebSockets) and task-based workflows to ensure high responsiveness and efficient system operation.  
• Optimize application performance and reliability through continuous code-level profiling, strict data validation, and comprehensive unit and integration testing. 
• Enforce technical standards by conducting rigorous code reviews, maintaining version control workflows, and producing automated, up-to-date API documentation using OpenAPI/Swagger.

Mobile Development (Flutter / Dart)   

• Architect and build high-performance, responsive cross-platform mobile applications using Flutter/Dart, employing modular design patterns for scalable codebase maintenance.  
• Implement complex state management and dynamic UI components, ensuring consistent design systems and smooth, intuitive user interactions across different devices.   
• Optimize application lifecycle by focusing on memory management, startup time reduction, and efficient asset handling to ensure high-quality user experiences. 
• Integrate platform-specific capabilities by developing custom native Android/iOS plugins and leveraging device APIs for hardware access. 
• Enforce development standards through automated testing, thorough code reviews, and the creation of reusable component libraries to streamline feature delivery.

Database Engineering 

• Architect and manage advanced relational database systems (PostgreSQL/MySQL), focusing on schema design, sophisticated indexing strategies, and query optimization to ensure high data integrity.  
• Implement high-scale data solutions including multi-tenant architectures, horizontal sharding, and advanced connection management (PgBouncer/read-write routing) to facilitate zero-downtime operations. 
• Integrate specialized data stores such as NoSQL (MongoDB/DynamoDB), time-series (TimescaleDB), graph (Neo4j), and vector databases (Pgvector) to support diverse, complex application requirements. 
• Engineer robust data pipelines and caching by designing distributed caching layers (Redis/Memcached), async task queues (Celery), and ETL processes for efficient data warehousing.

DevOps & Infrastructure 

• Architect and manage end-to-end CI/CD pipelines using automated caching, version control integration, and infrastructure as code (Terraform/Ansible) to ensure reliable, zero-downtime deployments. 
• Orchestrate scalable containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes, managing custom Helm charts and service mesh configurations to maintain system stability.  
• Implement robust observability and security through centralized logging (ELK/Loki), distributed tracing (Jaeger), and proactive monitoring (Prometheus/Grafana) to maintain high availability.

Security & Compliance 

• Engineer robust identity management using OAuth2, JWT, SSO/SAML, and PKI to ensure secure authentication, session lifecycle management, and enterprise-wide identity federation.
• Defend against vulnerabilities and threats by mitigating OWASP Top 10 risks, hardening access protocols, and implementing mobile-specific security like RASP, binary hardening, and jailbreak detection.   
• Enforce regulatory compliance and automated security through encryption, data masking, and the integration of SAST/DAST tools into CI/CD pipelines to meet standards like GDPR & Kenya Data Protection Act.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related IT field.
• 4 to 5 years of demonstrable, hands-on experience.
