Job Specifications

Duties and responsibilities at this level entail:

• Drafting and implementing standard operating procedures;
• Preparing laboratory reagents,solutions,specimens and samplesfor analysisfor routine analysis;
• Generating test reports;
• Participating in Environmental, Health and Safety activities (EHS);
• Stock taking (Including chemicals) and inventory management;
• Performing laboratory PT /ILC tests as guided by the protocols;
• Cleaning of specialized equipment;
• Decontaminating and sterilizing glassware for biological analysis.
• Validating of cleaning processesincluding glassware, equipment and Biological analysis surfaces.

 Person Specifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

• Cumulative relevantservice period ofsix (6) years,three (3) of which should have been at the grade of Laboratory Analyst I or in a comparable position;
• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Membership to a professional body and Registration Certificate where applicable;
• Proficiency in computer applications.
