Job Purpose/Summary
The job holder is answerable to the Deputy Director (Survey) and is responsible for coordinating the provision of all Land Survey Services within the Authority including identification, mapping and marking for protection and registration of the road reserves.
Qualifications and Experience
For appointment to this position, the idealcandidate must:
- Have a minimum of eight (8) years relevant experience and at least three (3) years in a supervisory role in comparable position in the Public Service or in the Private Sector;
- Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- Have a certificate in Management Course from a recognized institution;
- Be registered by Engineers Board of Kenya as a professional Engineer;
- Have a valid Annual Practicing License from the Engineers Board of Kenya;
- Be a member of Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK); and
- Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities
- Control the site levels and determine the quantities of road works on a project road,
- Supervise the survey assistants/survey staff on site;
- Ensure the standardization and certification of survey equipment used for road projects, monitoring and evaluating the integrity of survey work done for road works,
- Organize the opening of road reserves and ensure the removal of illegal structures/utilities, and preparation of the necessary reports and documentation,
- Control the site levels and determine the quantities of road works on a project road;
- Supervise of the survey assistants/survey staff on site;
- Prepare and submit of technical and administrative reports of the department;
- Prepare Land Acquisition requests and plans to the National Land Commission on behalf of the Authority;
- Identify and undertake mapping, marking and maintenance of road reserve boundaries,
- Perform the establishment of Primary and Secondary Survey Control Network for use by the Authority;
- Prepare and implement of the Department’s Performance Contract;
- Plan and implement title Surveys for registration of the Authority’s road corridors;
- Plan and perform the data collection and analysis on the status of the road reserves belonging to the Authority,
- Participate in the stakeholder’s meeting for the land inquiry process of compulsory land acquisition;
- Participate in the stakeholder’s meeting for the public participation before the commencement of road construction;
- Set out the road alignment in civil works; and
- Perform any other lawful as may be assigned from time to time.
