Senior Legal Counsel at Tana River County Assembly

Basic Salary: Kshs. 90,200 – Kshs. 124,630 (Permanent & Pensionable)

Duties and Responsibilities

• Providing legal advice to the County Assembly Service Board, the Assembly and Committees.
• Drafting and reviewing contracts, agreements and legal documents.
• Representing the Assembly in legal proceedings when required.
• Conducting legal research and preparing legal opinions, briefs and advisory notes.
• Assisting in drafting Bills, amendments, motions and legislative reports.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations and constitutional provisions.
• Prosecuting litigation matters with external counsel.
• Ensuring Assembly Bills comply with the Constitution.
• Performing any other duties assigned.

Requirements for Appointment

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university.
• Admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
• Valid practicing certificate.
• At least three (3) years post-admission experience in legal practice or legislative drafting.
• Strong research, drafting and analytical skills.
• Experience in parliamentary or public sector legal work will be an added advantage.
