    Senior Research Analyst

    Role Overview

    The Senior Research Analyst will be responsible for undertaking thorough macro-economic analysis that forms the basis of asset allocation, as well as industry & security analysis with a view to coming up with objective recommendations. In addition, responsibility to supervise & mentor research analysts & interns attached to the firm.

    Key Responsibilities

    •  Conduct comprehensive global and Kenyan macroeconomic analysis to guide asset allocation strategies.
    • Analyze sectoral trends to identify outperforming industries across economic cycles.
    • Perform detailed company analysis for equity investments, incorporating macroeconomic factors, industry trends, historical performance, risk assessments, projections, and valuations.
    • Develop and present daily, weekly, and monthly analyst reports to the clients, covering economic trends, equity markets, and fixed income outlook.
    • Advise the Investment Committee on fixed income opportunities, with recommendations based on creditworthiness, inflation trends, and interest rate risk.
    • Monitor offshore markets and provide strategic insights.
    • Contribute to the formulation of client investment strategies and quarterly reports.
    • Conduct due diligence, including site visits to listed companies.
    • Maintain up-to-date financial reports for all listed companies (5-year history).
    • Build and manage valuation models for fixed income, equities, and alternative asset classes such as ETFS.
    • Archive key Central Bank of Kenya publications and essential government documents (e.g., budget, economic survey, CPI).
    • Maintain a database tracking global economic indicator—GDP, inflation, interest rates, and major market indices.
    •  Compile data on bond market activities, including yield curve trends.
    •  Collaborate with industry counterparts for data gathering purposes.
    •  Track stock performance data, including performance attribution.
    • Maintain a corporate action diary and coordinate attendance at Investor briefings, AGMs and EGMs.
    • Design templates and frameworks for client quarterly investment reports.
    • Lead the preparation of research sections in response to RFPs.
    • Coordinate the production of Kingdom Securities’ Daily, Weekly, Quarterly Economic & Market Report.
    • Draft press releases and organize media briefings on investment and economic matters.
    • Manage team schedules and ensure optimal use of analysts’ time.
    • Uphold strict client confidentiality and serve as a liaison between analysts and external stakeholders.
    • Maintain an organized filing system for team research and publications.
    • Conduct quarterly appraisals and mentor junior research staff.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
    • CFA (or progress toward CFA) ICIFA, or equivalent professional qualifications.
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in research within banking, finance, or investment environments.
    •  Proficiency in MS Word, Excel (including macros), and PowerPoint; ability to create financial models, charts, and data visualizations.
    • Familiarity with database modeling and capacity to adapt to in-house systems and non-Windows platforms.
    • Strong grasp of financial statements and accounting ratios, with solid modeling and analytical capabilities.
    • Demonstrated interest in capital markets and investment research.
    • Strong academic track record and proven numerical and analytical aptitude.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
    • Confident presentation and interview skills; ability to engage effectively at all levels.
    • Demonstrated capacity for independent, objective thinking.
