    Senior School Chaplain

    The Role

    St Andrew’s, Turi, is looking for a committed and capable Senior School Christian Chaplain. The Senior School Chaplain will be required to work full time as a resident in our Senior School Community. The Senior School Chaplain will be under the leadership of the Whole School Chaplain and will play an essential role in the Senior School management team, helping to uphold the Christian ethos of the Senior School.

    The day-to-day duties will require the Chaplain to provide spiritual support and encouragement; plan and lead Bible studies, chapels, Christian groups, worship teams and prayer meetings. This will re- quire the person to maintain relationships with the many external charities St Andrew’s supports and arrange a half termly Senior School service day in partnership with these charities. The successful candidate will be required to provide a listening ear to both students and staff and to assist with the day to day running of a full international boarding school. You do not need to be a teacher to apply, however, some teaching experience is beneficial and it would be an advantage.

    • A person with high moral and spiritual integrity
    • Theologically trained with an ability to teach and communicate the Bible in relevant ways
    • Excellent theological, diplomatic and interpersonal
    • The ability to lead worship for a wide age range
    • Highly organised and proactive in planning, preparation and spiritual support
    • Proven experience working with and supporting young people in their faith development.
    • Can operate multiple projects at once,.
    • Good understanding of safeguarding practices, specifically concerned with the welfare and wellbeing of young
    • The ability to use technology to support Chaplaincy activities

    Terms and Conditions

    Remuneration

    There is a generous overall remuneration package as detailed below;

    • Salary: The successful applicant will be placed on the Main Pay
    • Accommodation: Suitable rent free accommodation a furnished one-bedroom apartment as a taxable
    • Medical care: all members of staff and their families (below 18 years) are covered under a insurance scheme.
    • Pension: the School operates a defined contribution pension scheme in which the employer and employee each contribute 6% of monthly salary. For employees emigrating from Kenya at the end of their contract, the full value of the contributions, plus accumulated interest, can be withdrawn from the scheme.
    • Meals: these are provided during term time as a taxable bene-
    • Facilities: extensive sports facilities are open to use by staff and their families

    Hours of work and holiday entitlement

    The role is full-time and includes working in the evening and at weekends as required. The successful applicant will be expected to take a full and active part in the boarding life of the school. As a British curriculum school, the academic year commences in September and holiday are broadly in line with British independent schools.
