    Sonographer

    Key Responsibilities

    Clinical & Diagnostic Duties

    • Perform ultrasound examinations (abdominal, obstetric, vascular, Doppler, etc.) and diagnostic radiographs, ensuring images meet quality standards for accurate diagnosis.
    • Prepare and counsel patients before procedures, explaining processes, obtaining consent, and addressing concerns.
    • Interpret and verify ultrasound/radiograph images, correlating findings with patient history and referring physicians as needed.
    • Ensure real-time billing of procedures prior to execution and maintain accurate patient records.
    • Review and deliver reports/results promptly, including urgent referrals to physicians or other healthcare providers.

    Equipment & Safety

    • Conduct routine calibration, maintenance, and safety checks on ultrasound/radiology equipment.
    • Report equipment malfunctions, downtime, or supply shortages to the Clinical Service Manager.
    • Adhere to radiation safety protocols and infection prevention measures
    • Safeguard patient and staff safety by following regulatory guidelines

    Administrative & Compliance

    • Maintain accurate documentation of scans, patient records, and inventory (e.g., consumables, radiology supplies).
    • Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages and place orders in a timely manner.
    • Participate in monthly departmental meetings, training sessions, and quality assurance reviews.
    • Capacity builds other assigned healthcare staff as needed.

    Qualifications & Skills

    • Diploma/Degree in Medical Imaging Sciences, Radiography, or related field from a recognized institution.
    • Certification/Licensure: Registration with the professional bodies
    • At least 3 years work experience
    • Knowledge of relevant legislations and professional standards
    • Computer use skills and experience
    • Strong attention to detail with excellent record-keeping skills.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
