Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct Comprehensive eye tests
- Check Visual acuity
- Test for refractive errors
- Prescribe eyeglasses and contact lenses
- Screen for conditions like Glaucoma, cataract and diabetic Retinopathy
- Remove foreign bodies from the eye
- Provide treatment for Lazy eye
- Educate patients on poor eye care
Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- Diploma in Optometry from a recognized institution
- Registration Certificate issued by Medical Board of Kenya
- Valid practicing license from the Medical Board of Kenya
- Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution
