    Sourcing Field Officer

    Job Purpose:

    • The Sourcing Field Officer is responsible for sourcing waste recyclables for Buyback Centers (BBCs), ensuring sourcing targets are met, building relationships with waste pickers and suppliers, and conducting market research to improve procurement strategies. The role also involves handling grievances, monitoring market trends, and implementing cost-cutting initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Sourcing & Waste Picker Relations:

    • Achieve monthly sourcing targets in terms of both quality and quantity.
    • Oversee the sourcing process of recyclable materials from waste pickers at all assigned BBCs, ensuring compliance with BBC quality SOPs.
    • Develop and manage a monthly delivery schedule for aggregators.
    • Onboard new waste pickers and maintain strong relationships with suppliers through regular check-ins (e.g., weekly).
    • Handle waste picker grievances, update the grievance tracker, and report to the Manager via email.
    • Conduct research and gather market intelligence on suppliers, pricing, and new recycling products or services.

    Reporting & Research:

    • Update daily expected deliveries and liaise with the Buyback Center Supervisor/Operations team.
    • Maintain and update the delivery and target tracker.
    • Conduct market research on key recycling fractions in alignment with company objectives.
    • Attend weekly meetings with the BBC Manager to discuss progress and challenges.

    Budgeting & Cost Management:

    • Create and manage budgets related to sourcing activities.
    • Proactively suggest and implement cost-cutting initiatives.
    • Update market research survey tracker with a focus on cost reduction strategies.
    • Conduct comprehensive market research on all recyclable materials.
    • Develop new sourcing models with an emphasis on material quality improvement.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Diploma or degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in sourcing, waste management, or recycling operations.
    • Strong knowledge of market trends in the recycling industry.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
    • Ability to manage and resolve supplier and waste picker grievances.
    • Strong data management and reporting skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

    Key Competencies:

    • Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills.
    • Problem-solving and analytical abilities.
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
    • Attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
