What You'll Bring

• Negotiation and drafting of agreements, proposals, tender documents and any other document of a legally binding / potential risk / cost intensive nature;
• Performing legal research to guide/advise the business;
• Providing support with any regulatory change implementation, including all credit and privacy regulations;
• Provision of advice including assistance in respect of compliance, corporate investigations, and the drafting of communications to customers and regulators;
• Assist management in their understanding of the legal risks related to their business area, through:
• Reviewing of new business and products for compliance with legal requirements.
• Participating in working groups for key projects
• Strategic partnering with TransUnion Africa business units by participating fully in broad strategic issues, growth initiatives and product development
• Where required, managing all litigation matters, instructions to attorneys to defend matters; and ensuring the mitigation of TransUnion’s risk and costs exposure;
• Relationship management, training and reporting.
• Performing of other related duties as assigned.

Impact You'll Make

• We are looking for a minimum LLB Degree (or equivalent) with at least to five to eight years post-qualification experience.
• General commercial and legal experience at a large commercial law firm or corporation within a highly regulated industry.
• Experience in the following areas of law is advantageous: Consumer protection and privacy laws, regional credit laws, intellectual property, technology and e-commerce, and credit reporting laws.
• Extensive contract negotiation and drafting experience.
• Ability to handle multiple complex tasks and priorities continuously.
• Critical strategic thinking skills, ability to rapidly assess issues and associated risk and ability to make critical decisions in a fast paced environment are essential.
• Ability to read, interpret, and understand documents such as laws, business documents, system documents, company policies, and procedures.
• Ability to work in a team environment and with peers and management on all levels of the organization.
• Proven ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written, verbal and negotiating skills as well as interface effectively with all levels of management and present a fitting corporate image to the press and public. This position requires travel.
• Proficient in MS Office.
